IFFK at 20: Delegate registration postponed to November 15th

Delegate registration for the upcoming 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) has been postponed to Sunday, November 15.

The Kerala State Chalachitra Academy (KSCA) said the delay is necessary in order to roll out a flawless advance booking system and to make sure the wrinkles previously faced during financial transactions through the Net and bank payment systems are rectified this time around.

As well, taking into consideration the large number of requests made by youth organisations, the KSCA will offer SMS reservation facility for IFFK 2015.  

Only a certain percentage of the total seats in the theatre will be available for reservation. A delegate can reserve a seat at three screenings daily. The reservation facility for a screening will be made available 48 hours prior to that particular screening.

Delegates with reservations must enter the hall 10 minutes prior to the start of the screening, failing which priority will be given to delegates in the queue. Seat numbers will not be assigned during the reservation process and seating will be on a first-come first-serve basis. This is to ensure delegates who queue up are assured of seats.

Delegate cells will be open at the KSCA office in Sasthamangalam and the Academy’s Film Library and Research Centre in Panavila. Counters will be set up at both cells to accommodate registration in person. As well, help desks will be on hand to lend assistance.  

Delegate kits will distributed starting Monday, November 30th, through counters at Tagore theatre

ഇരുപതാമത് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേള(ഐ എഫ്  എഫ് കെ)ക്കുള്ള പ്രതിനിധികളുടെ രജിസ്‌ട്രേഷന്‍ ആരംഭിക്കുത് നവംബര്‍ 15 ലേക്കു മാറ്റി. പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ക്ക് മുന്‍കൂര്‍ സീറ്റ് റിസര്‍വേഷനു സൗകര്യങ്ങള്‍ ഒരുക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള തയ്യാറെടുപ്പുകള്‍ക്കായാണ് തീയതി നീട്ടിയതെന്ന് ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി സെക്രട്ടറി എസ് രാജേന്ദ്രന്‍ നായര്‍ അറിയിച്ചു. രജിസ്‌ട്രേഷനു ഓണ്‌ലൈന്‍ വഴിയും ബാങ്കുകള്‍ വഴിയും  പണമടക്കുതില്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞവര്‍ഷമുണ്ടായ തടസ്സങ്ങള്‍ ഒഴിവാക്കും.

       യുവജനസംഘടനകളുടെ ആവശ്യം പരിഗണിച്ച് പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ക്ക് ഈ വര്‍ഷം എസ് എം എസ് വഴി സീറ്റുകള്‍ റിസര്‍വ്വു ചെയ്യാന്‍ സംവിധാനമുണ്ടാക്കും. നിശ്ചിത എണ്ണം സീറ്റുകള്‍ക്കു മാത്രമാണ് റിസര്‍വേഷന്‍. സീറ്റ് നമ്പറുകള്‍ ഇല്ലാത്തതിനാല്‍ ആദ്യമെത്തുവര്‍ക്ക് ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട സീറ്റുകള്‍ ലഭിക്കും. ക്യൂവില്‍ നില്‍ക്കുവര്‍ക്കും സീറ്റുകള്‍ ലഭിക്കും. റിസര്‍വ്വ് ചെയ്യുവര്‍ സിനിമ തുടങ്ങുതിനു പത്തു മിനിറ്റ് മുമ്പെത്തിയില്ലെങ്കില്‍ ആ സീറ്റുകളും  ക്യൂവില്‍ നില്‍ക്കുന്നവര്‍ക്ക് ലഭ്യമാക്കും.

      48 മണിക്കൂര്‍ മുമ്പാരംഭിക്കുന്ന റിസര്‍വേഷന്‍ സംവിധാനത്തിലൂടെ ഒരു പ്രതിനിധിക്ക് ഒരു ദിവസം മൂന്നു സിനിമകള്‍ക്കു മാത്രമേ റിസര്‍വേഷന്‍ ലഭിക്കൂ. ശാസ്തമംഗലത്തെ അക്കാദമി ഓഫീസിലും പനവിളയിലെ അക്കാദമി ലൈബ്രറിയിലും ഡെലിഗേറ്റ് സെല്ലുകള്‍ തുറക്കും. ഇവിടെ നേരില്‍ പണമടക്കാനുള്ള സൗകര്യമുണ്ടാകും. മുതിര്‍ന്നവര്‍ക്കും വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്കും ഹെല്‍പ്പ് ഡസ്‌ക്കുകളും ഏര്‍പ്പെടുത്തുമെന്ന് അക്കാദമി സെക്രട്ടറി അറിയിച്ചു. പ്രതിനിധികള്‍ക്കുള്ള കിറ്റുകള്‍ ടാഗോര്‍ തീയറ്ററിലെ കൗണ്ടറുകള്‍ വഴി നവംബര്‍ 30 മുതല്‍ വിതരണം ചെയ്യും.

മാനവീയം വീഥിയില്‍ ഞായറാഴ്ച 'നോ മാന്‍സ് ലാന്‍ഡ്'

തിരുവനന്തപുരം: മാനവീയം പ്രതിവാര പൊതുചലച്ചിത്രമേളയില്‍ നവംബര്‍ എട്ട് ഞായറാഴ്ച ഓസ്‌കാര്‍ അവാര്‍ഡ് നേടിയ ബോസ്‌നിയന്‍ ചിത്രം 'നോ മാന്‍സ് ലാന്‍ഡ്' പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കും. മലയാളം സബ്‌ടൈറ്റിലുകളോടെയുള്ള പ്രദര്‍ശനം വൈകിട്ട് 6.30 ന് ആരംഭിക്കും. ഇരുപതാമത് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളക്കു മുന്നോടിയായി കേരള ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമിയും മാനവീയം തെരുവോരക്കൂട്ടവും സംയുക്തമായാണ് പ്രദര്‍ശനം സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. 

2001 ല്‍ പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ നോ മാന്‍സ് ലാന്‍ഡ് സംവിധായകന്‍ ഡാനിസ് ടാനോവിച്ചിന്റെ ആദ്യ മുഴുനീള കഥാചിത്രമാണ്. സെര്‍ബിയയും ബോസ്‌നിയയും തമ്മിലുള്ള യുദ്ധത്തിനിടെ പരിക്കേറ്റ് അതിര്‍ത്തിപ്രദേശത്തെ കിടങ്ങില്‍ പെട്ടുപോകുന്ന ശത്രുപക്ഷ സൈനികരുടെ കഥ പറയുന്ന ചിത്രം 2002 ല്‍ മികച്ച വിദേശഭാഷാ ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള ഓസ്‌കാര്‍ നേടി. തുടക്കത്തില്‍ പലതവണ പരസ്പരം ഏറ്റുമുട്ടുകയും അധിക്ഷേപിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സൈനികര്‍ നിലനില്‍പ്പിനായി രാജ്യങ്ങള്‍ തമ്മിലുള്ള കടുത്തയുദ്ധം മറന്ന് പരസ്പരം സഹകരിക്കുന്നതാണ് ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ പ്രമേയം. 

പുറത്തിറങ്ങിയ വര്‍ഷം തന്നെ കാന്‍ ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയില്‍ മികച്ച തിരക്കഥയ്ക്കുള്ള പുരസ്‌കാരം നോ മാന്‍സ് ലാന്‍ഡ് സ്വന്തമാക്കി. തിരക്കഥയ്ക്കുള്ള യൂറോപ്യന്‍ ഫിലിം അക്കാദമി അവാര്‍ഡ്, മികച്ച ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള സെസര്‍ ഫ്രഞ്ച് ദേശീയപുരസ്‌കാരം, ആന്‍ഡ്രെ കാവെന്‍സ് പുരസ്‌കാരം, മികച്ച വിദേശ ഭാഷാ ചിത്രത്തിനുള്ള ഗോള്‍ഡന്‍ ഗ്ലോബ് എന്നിവയുള്‍പ്പെടെ 42 അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര പുരസ്‌കാരങ്ങളാണ് ചിത്രം നേടിയത്. അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്ര മേളയുടെ 19-ാം പതിപ്പില്‍ കണ്ടംപററി മാസ്റ്റേഴ്‌സ് വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ നോ മാന്‍സ് ലാന്‍ഡ് പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നു.  

ഷമീര്‍ബാബുവിന്റെ ആശയം ഐഎഫ്എഫ്‌കെ സിഗ്നേച്ചര്‍ഫിലിം

തിരുവനന്തപുരം: ഇരുപതാമത് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയോടനുബന്ധിച്ച് കേരളചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി സംഘടിപ്പിച്ച സിഗ്നേച്ചര്‍ ഫിലിം മത്സരത്തിലെ വിജയിയെ പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു. സി പി ഷമീര്‍ ബാബുവിന്റെ ആശയമാണ് ഇത്തവണത്തെ സിഗ്നേച്ചര്‍ ഫിലിമിനായി ജൂറി തെരെഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. 

കണ്ണൂര്‍ ചാല സ്വദേശിയായ ഷമീര്‍ ബാബു ടി വി, ചലച്ചിത്ര മേഖലയില്‍ 15 വര്‍ഷമായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന അനിമേഷന്‍ ചലച്ചിത്രകാരനാണ്. സി ഡിറ്റില്‍ നിന്ന് ലളിതകലയിലും അനിമേഷനിലും ബിരുദം നേടിയ ഷമീര്‍ ബാബു ദൂരദര്‍ശന്‍, കാര്‍ട്ടൂണ് നെറ്റ്‌വര്‍ക്ക്, പോഗോ എന്നിവയില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.2012 ല്‍ അടൂര്‍ ഭാസി അവാര്‍ഡ് നേടി.  ടെലിവിഷന്‍ മേഖലക്കു നല്‍കിയ സംഭാവനകള്‍ക്ക് 2014 ടിവി പ്രോഗ്രാം പ്രൊമോഷന്‍ കൗണ്‌സില്‍ അവാര്‍ഡും ലഭിച്ചു. അഞ്ചു ഘടകങ്ങളിലൂടെയുള്ള നിഴലിന്റെയും വെളിച്ചത്തിന്റെയും ചിത്രീകരണമാണ് മൂവിംഗ് ക്രാഫ്റ്റ് അനിമേഷന്‍ സ്റ്റുഡിയോയുടെ ബാനറില്‍ നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുന്ന സിഗ്നേച്ചര്‍ഫിലിമിന്റെ ആശയം.

സിഗ്നേച്ചര്‍ ഫിലിം നിര്‍മ്മിക്കുന്നതിന് അക്കാദമിനടത്തിയ മത്സരത്തിലേക്കു ലഭിച്ച 25 എന്‍ട്രികളില്‍ നിന്നാണ് ബാബുവിന്റെ ആശയം തെരെഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. ഛായാഗ്രാഹകന്‍ രാമചന്ദ്രബാബു, ഛായാഗ്രാഹകന്‍ സണ്ണി ജോസഫ്, സംവിധായകന്‍ ജി എസ് വിജയന്‍, ചലച്ചിത്ര അക്കാദമി ചെയര്‍മാന്‍ രാജീവ്‌നാഥ് എന്നിവരടങ്ങുന്ന ജൂറിയാണ് വിജയിയെ തെരെഞ്ഞെടുത്തത്. ഡിസംബര്‍ 4 ന് അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ചലച്ചിത്രമേളയുടെ ഉദ്ഘാടനചടങ്ങില്‍  25,000 രൂപ സമ്മാനത്തുക ശ്രീ ബാബുവിന് സമ്മാനിക്കും.

Chalachitra Academy Announces Signature Film Contest Winner

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 3: Shameer Babu, an award-winning animation filmmaker, will make the signature film for the upcoming 20th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).

The concept mooted by Babu received appreciation by an august jury comprising renowned cinematographers Shri Ramachandra Babu and Shri Sunny Joseph, noted director Shri G.S Vijayan and Kerala State Chalacitra Academy (KSCA) chairman Shri T. Rajeevnath.

 Beating out some 25 entries received for the coveted assignment, the winning submission, being made under the banner of Moving Kraft animation studio, will feature the play of light and shadow through the five elements as its theme.

 Babu, who hails from Chala in Kannur district, will receive an official citation, along with a cash prize of Rs 25000, at the IFFK 2015’s inaugural ceremony on December 4 at Nishagandhi auditorium.

With 15 years of experience in the television and film fields, Babu has worked for Pogo, Cartoon Network and Doordharshan. In 2012, he was awarded an Adoor Bhasi Television award and in 2014 received a Television programme promotion council award for his contribution to the television industry.

Last month, the KSCA had invited submissions of novel concepts, scripts and storyboards with 20-second run-times for the contest. The deadline for submission was October 26.

 The contest was part of an ongoing KSCA initiative to search for and promote young talents, fresh ideas, innovative storytelling and approaches to filmmaking from the wider public.

 IFFK 2015, Kerala’s premier film festival, will run from December 4 -11.

Brazilian Filmmaker Julio Bressane to Head IFFK Jury

 Brazilian filmmaker Julio Bressane will head the jury of 20th  International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) scheduled to be held from December 4 to 11. The other members include Newton Aduaka, Nadia Dresti, Maxine Williamson and Jahnu Baruva. Derek Malcolm and Lathika Padgaonkar are members of the Fipresci (International Federation of Film Critics) Jury. The Netpac (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema) jury consists of Siddiq Barmak, Swarna Mallavarachchi and Meenakshi Shedde. Claire Dobin, Festival Director of Melba Festival, will deliver this year’s Aravindan Memorial Speech. A workshop conducted by three internationally-acclaimed technicians will also be held during the festival.  More than 80 foreign films will feature in this year’s festival, adding strength to its diversity. The participating movies are classified into 10 categories: International Competition Section (14), Malayalam Cinema (7), Indian Cinema (7), Country Focus (Lithuania, Myanmar)- 8, World cinema (80), contemporary Masters (7), Tribute to Vincent Master (3), Retro International (10), Jury Films/ Lifetime Achievements 10, and Public Screening (7). Further, 20 movies will be screened as a special package under the categories 3D, True Story, Women’s Side and New Directors, with five movies included in each section.
